Know the reason of why Wi-Fi not working

What to do if I forget my router’s username and password?

First, check all the papers that came with your router when you received it: you will probably find a manual containing them. But if you can’t get your hands on it, or you’ve already thrown away all of these papers, don’t worry.  If you or someone else has changed your router’s username and password and you don’t remember, there is still hope. Find and reset the reset button on your router for 10 to 20 seconds. This will restore its factory settings, including its default username and password. This reset may even solve your problem.

Determine your router’s IP address

Technology is something strange. Sometimes the equipment just needs a little help to get started again. Turn off your modem, wait for a few seconds, and then start it again.

But if the problem persists and you have to constantly switch it off and on again for it to work, then your problem is much more serious. You will probably need a new modem and / or router.

Change the wireless channel

Wireless networks are a special arrangement but not a magic. They depend on “channels” to travel in the air, and some channels are better than others, especially in the most populated areas of the world where many devices emit interference.

By changing the channel on which your wireless operates, you could not only repair your Wi-Fi connection but also make it faster if you’re lucky. 

From there, just try a new channel, no matter which one, and apply the change. Stay a few minutes to see if a change takes place, then try again with one more channel in case of wifi connected no internet

If you discover a channel that works, great! Enjoy the web! But if no changes work, remember to re-select your original channel before trying another solution.

If you don’t think about doing it, you may be able to fix the Wi-Fi without realizing it because the channel you left is not working.

Update your firmware

A lot of devices automatically revise their firmware when they become aware that a new update has been released. But usually routers have to be updated manually … which could fix your connection problem. 

Start by linking to your router using the method thorough above. Next, look for a tab or section generous Firmware, Router Update, Update, or with an alike title. The title may vary depending on the router you are using. So if in doubt, take a look, it costs nothing. 

When you find the tab, the current firmware version should be listed there, and there should be a button indicating something like Check, Analyze, or Update.

Click on it to see if there is newer firmware that you could install. Sometimes the update download will start without you having to do anything, and other times you will have to click on links and deal with them manually. 

But in case you do not find the firmware page, or the least useful button, do not panic: check the model of your router, and then go to the manufacturer’s website.  Consider changing it.

Check the cables

Make sure all cables are securely connected to your router. If not, reconnect them and check if you see any improvement.

Check your DHCP settings

DHCP (or Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a system that distributes IP addresses quickly and automatically over the network. IP addresses are important because they are the key element for devices to connect and communicate over the Internet.
